Partner – Tax & Business Advisory Consultancy – Farmington Valley, CT
Our client:
Our client is a Small & Medium Business (SMB) Tax & Business Advisory Consultancy and is looking for a Practice / Office Leader, with ownership. The practice has dozens of clients and the owner is looking to step out after training a new leader and trusted advisor. This individual will be trained in best practices, how the team currently operates, and eventually take over the practice and business (slated within a year).
Qualifications
Minimum preferred of 4 – 6 years of experience in public accounting, finance, tax or legal

CPA, Enrolled Agent, Member of the Bar or 8 yrs. of consulting leadership

A desire for entrepreneurship and leading a successful business.

Extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team leader.

Likes interfacing with clients and being a trusted advisor.

Although office personnel perform the heavy lift of tax preparation, this individual will eventually be able to demonstrate understanding of Partnership K-1 income, state tax credits, composite returns, schedules
and year end planning. -
Capable of using technologies, e.g., Microsoft Office, Google at Work AI and other progressive tools.
Responsibilities throughout the year:

As a leader, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. A Practice Leader is the client interface and trusted advisor.

Oversee the team that provides tax and consulting services to flow through entities and their related owners in a variety of industries.

Demonstrate success as a business advisor, including developing new relationships.

Building and maintaining robust client relationships at the executive level.

Identify opportunities for expanded services to prospective and existing clients (through the development of “trusted advisor” status with clients served)

Develop engagement budgets, coordinate required resources, bill engagements, and manage performance against stated objectives to ensure that client (deliverables) and firm objectives (engagement economics) are met.

Provide guidance and experience to ensure that engagement risks are identified, and appropriate responses are taken.

Work with engagement and client personnel to address tax and accounting issues, reviews all finished tax deliverables and tax accruals for accuracy and completeness, and ensure that client communications are provided in a timely manner to avoid surprises.
- Manage a network of decision makers and outside relationships with a goal of creating referrals and references as well as of fostering long-term business development opportunities (through involvement in leadership roles with and in professional groups, community service, and personal relationships)

Leverage technical skills with reviewing individual tax returns and tax planning for partners within a firm or executives, especially identifying and addressing client tax issues.

Utilize project management and communication skills, including managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets.
- Oversee the team that work within tax preparation software and on-line tax organizers.
