Trends in aerospace engineering technology

The aerospace industry is constantly evolving, especially in terms of technology. Here are some top trends to keep in mind.

  1. Blockchain
    • blockchain can arrange the interchange of internal & external supply chain participants all the way to the customer; it is secure, traceable, and shareable. This leaves a clear & unchangeable history in design, components, and more.
  2. 3D Printing
    • This helps produce components / parts that use significantly less material than traditionally manufactured parts. Reducing weight is key for increasing speed, capacity, fuel consumption, and emissions. It allows for the creation of complex and lightweight structures, rapid prototyping, and on-demand manufacturing of components.
  3. IoT
    • Internet of things technology can be used for predictive maintenance of aircraft parts and equipment. It can send alerts on potential damage by using ultrasonic and vibration sensors in a CNC machine.
  4. AI
    • Artificial Intelligence allows the industry to keep tabs on new patterns and relations in the data.
  5. Autonomous Systems
    • The integration of autonomous systems and artificial intelligence (AI) in aerospace engineering is advancing rapidly. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are being used for various applications, including surveillance, inspection, and cargo delivery.
  6. Space-based Internet and Communication:
    • Companies are working on satellite constellations to provide global internet connectivity. This technology has the potential to bridge the digital divide and revolutionize communication in remote areas.
