Our client is a privately held manufacturer of medical devices and software. They are seeking an experienced Buyer to manage procurement activities and other supply-related tasks. They will be responsible for driving reliable and cost-effective delivery of materials, equipment, and services with the proper quality, pricing, compliance, and speed. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple vendors in the medical device industry, experience in procurement systems implementations, and a demonstrated track record of participating in procurement-related process improvements.

This position requires candidates to be onsite in the Framingham area, but once trained can work a hybrid schedule. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Review, interpret, and verify purchase order requests.
  • Verify quantity, anticipated costs and practical application of supplies/materials requested.
  • Obtain critical materials and components, equipment, and services through interviewing and/or visit vendors to ensure supplier is qualified
  • Research sources, solicit bids, and compare areas of quality, cost, delivery, and warranty/guarantee policies.
  • Commit company funds to vendors and expedite orders/shipment/delivery, updating end-user as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain automated purchase inventory files and records.
  • Authorize payment to vendor and establish adjustments as required.
  • Partner with QA department to perform supplier audits.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Recognize and understand supply risk to the organization, work with suppliers and internal stakeholder to resolve or suggest alternative solutions.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks; perform cost and scenario analysis; identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships, metrics, and performance.

 

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of relevant experience in procurement or purchasing – medical device industry preferred
  • Certification/Licensure: Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional in Supply Management preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong IT skills and previous experience with Rootstock ERP highly desirable
